The Warwick Police Department would like to introduce you to its four SRO’s (School Resource Officers).  The City of Warwick has a full time police officer assigned to each of the three public high schools and new this year, one full time officer assigned to rotate amongst its three middle schools.  The SRO’s fall under the Community Services Division of the police department which is lead by Lieutenant Michael Gilbert and supervised by Sergeant John Kelly.

The S.R.O’s act as a liaison between the school Department and Warwick Police Department. S.R.O.’s also:

  • Provide a visible presence and direct police service in their assigned school buildings and associated facilities/grounds, ensuring the safety and security of faculty and students.
  • Perform various duties within the schools, to include enforcement work, community relations activities, providing information to students, faculty and parents relating to the various functions and operations of the Warwick Police Department.
  • Be a key component to the community policing efforts of the Community Services Division by demonstrating a genuine interest in the community’s young people.
