Welcome to the Warwick Police Department

The Warwick Police Department was established in 1921.  Prior to that the villages of Warwick were policed by constables and sheriffs since 1648.  The department currently has 172 sworn police officers supported by 53 civilian employees that provide municipal policing services to a residential population of 81,000.

Warwick Police Department Headlines

The department held a promotion ceremony on January 12th. Detective Frank McGee, a 15 year veteran, was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant. Gilda Fortier, a 12 year veteran, was promoted to Detective. And Nadine Parmenter, an 11 year veteran, was officially acknowledged and sworn in for her promotion to detectives several months ago. Good luck in your new positions and go get 'em.
The vacancies were made by the recent retirements of Detective Eric Johnson and Sergeant Steve Fernandez. Eric, a 22 year veteran, an esteemed and well respected Detective for 15 years, and a lawyer retired to practice law with his wife. Steve, a 20 year veteran with 14 years as a Patrol Sergeant, retired to start a second law enforcement career as a Patrolman with the Coventry PD. Eric and Steve-thank you from all of us for your service, contributions and many memories. Live long and prosper.
