Welcome to the Warwick Police Department

The Warwick Police Department was established in 1921.  Prior to that the villages of Warwick were policed by constables and sheriffs since 1648.  The department currently has 172 sworn police officers supported by 53 civilian employees that provide municipal policing services to a residential population of 81,000.

Warwick Police Department Headlines

Tuesday: We will stay at the Buttonwoods Community Center all day. Activities include introductions, icebreakers/ Project Adventure games, and other activities.

Wednesday: We will head over to New England Tech today for a mock crime scene investigation. Detectives from the Warwick Police Department will teach the kids about forensics, evidence collection, and investigation techniques. Busses will be provided to and from the Buttonwoods Center.

Thursday: Today the kids will test their leadership skills as we head to the URI Challenge Course. The kids will take part in team building lessons and work together to solve challenges on the low and high ropes course.  We will be outside for most of the day (if the weather is inclement, then we will use the new indoor ropes building at URI), so please remember to bring your lunch, plenty of water, and insect repellant with you! Busses will be provided to and from the Buttonwoods Center.

Friday: Law Enforcement Day: Today the kids will get to see some of the different units of the Warwick Police Department. Members of the SWAT team, the K-9 team, the explorers, and traffic division will be present for the kids to meet and talk to. Also scheduled to be in attendance will be the Rhode Island National Guards rock wall and Warwick Fire Departments “Smoke House.” A cook out (hamburgers and hotdogs) will be provided for the kids today.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. A FEE OF $30.00 IS REQUIRED for The Warwick Police Leadership Camp. This fee will cover all expenses associated with the camp and serve as a full deposit. Please submit your check at the time you apply for the camp. If the camp is full and you are not accepted, your check will be returned.

2. If you are unable to attend the leadership camp, please notify us at least one week prior to the start of the camp. This will allow us enough time to replace your spot with someone who might be on the waiting list. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE FORFITURE OF YOUR DEPOSIT.

3. In this package, you will find several waiver forms and permission slips. In order to participate in this program; each form must be reviewed, signed, and returned to the school officers prior to the start of camp.

4. Several weeks prior to the start of the Leadership Camp, you will receive a confirmation of acceptance letter along with a checklist of the items you will need for the camp.

You may return your application to your school resource officer, drop it off at the Warwick Police Department, or mail it to the police department at the following address:
